Adressing the negative effects of media on youth.
Be your own kind of Beautiful
The Beautiful workshops addresses the negative effects of the media on body image, self-esteem, and beauty standards for girls (in grades 6-8). Through a combination of interactive activities and open group discussions, this workshop teaches media literacy to provide young women with critical tools to detect, deconstruct, resist and heal from the sexism and racism pervasive in the media. We also address how to stand up against bullying that is often amplified through social media. By bringing awareness to and addressing these issues, we hope to help young women gain more self-confidence and a healthier mindset about body image and beauty expectations.
